Amarillo 03:26
in your new life I hope you promise to be kind a little softer, less designed all empathy and grace in your new life I hope each old choice can change each bar and scar and circus train every shadow to get shed in my new life I will wake up happy I will stand so tall I will just believe in my new life I will return phonecalls I will pay the bills  like the one you really need in your new life I hope you promise to take risks drop the bottle, take a trip break out from your blue in your new life  I hope solitude comes easy but if you choose to speak to someone I hope your words are understood in my new life I will wake up sober I will knuckle down I will just believe in my new life I will buy the groceries I will change the sheets like the one you really need I will expect less I will fence my heart I will bleed the poison I will start to shake you off cause in this life I see you as a raincoat  boatloads of trouble off your shoulders the selfish kind of dry

Mercy 03:20
a black cut through the white the road across the prairie snow today we said goodbye for the hundred thousandth time & a hawk circles the silo & the landscape opens wide and again & again and again, I am asking send me mercy the soft blood orange sun hanging heavy to the field a bright echoing hymn of the somewhere I come from & the light sweeps the horizon & I wonder how you are and again & again and again, I am opening my hands bring me mercy when it’s just you and the fact of being alive colliding when you set course home to the place that you spent your years inventing I am coming home I am coming home a snow pulse in the dark the lights on the shoulder blink all the bets you have lost to the fragile grace you’ve gained & the storm sets out, retreating & I picture you, unscathed and again & again and again I am grateful for such mercy

Vanguard 03:45
you were retreating before the war stockpiling armor I don’t need you now I can’t be your baby anyhow I don’t need you now I got other ways to get broke down I’m at the vanguard sharpening swords you’re in the barracks sleeping it off this unending rivalry I don’t need you now I can’t be your baby anyhow I don’t need you now I got other ways to get broke down me with the white flag you on the wall empire in ruins I don’t need you now I can’t be your baby anyhow I don’t need you now I got other ways to get broke down

Lion 03:14
how'd I become so much like a lion? weren't I sweet like pollen when you first came? why would leave me here like a tyrant? & how did I forget how to pray say it ain't so why do you beg the stone for the water? once it breaks for water, won't you beg for wine? did you or did you not find me human? & which one of us gets to lead the blind oh how you howled the day that the rain came grain of sugar, grain of sand behold the boat inside your hand how could I be as tired as a pirate? & who makes the call of what's true or false? did I or did I not spike the dance punch? didn't the girls fall over to that lulling waltz what a show why would you wake the sleeping giant? & when did you plant that trojan horse? how deep in my brain did you need to ride it? & baby ain't you afraid of the gale force winds a comin' in so will you or will you not drop the charges? cause didn't you call me your stolen plum? since when did the storm dance in like a death march? how long's it been since i've seen the sun of your face oh how you howled the day that the rain came grain of sugar, grain of sand behold the boat inside your hand when did you end up crying at a rest stop? will the weight of your head in your hands subside? is this or is it not what you wanted? can’t you see all the diamonds behind the desert sky? baby, try baby, try

Kay 03:32
I didn’t see you running down death hand to the bible ear to my chest can do you remember my wedding dress felt just like floating down the river reaching up my hands like ooh I dream about leaving I dream about coming home ooh soft as the sweetness lost in my bones it was whiskey for breakfast your mouth for lunch before the babies before the tiniest things can do you remember my skin on your skin felt just like floating through the water reaching out our hands like ooh I dream about leaving I dream about coming home ooh soft as the sweetness lost in my bones crack in a teacup under my thumb cracks in the ceiling spreading like fires I cannot remember the curve of your face feels like i’m wading through the water trying to find that place like ooh I dream about leaving I dream about coming home

Why Not 04:09
a ferris wheel, a carousel, I try to find my way & if I see you at the bar tonight i'll try to look away a miracle, a spectacle your face I try to explain the flickering garden lights of memory I try to blur away I don't see why not / I don't see why not mermaid heart, you yearn your phantom life a sister ship the alabaster ache inside your chest a medicine can you bear the ghosts inside the hull the next of kin tear it down, you tear it all apart a violence I don't see why not / I don't see why not what makes you believe that I need to be brought back to life? fiction fades, the frozen storm awakes slow burn the stars we toil and spin, we plow and sow and wait and turn to dark we've lost some, but do not walk away I would turn to salt I am the baltic sea, waiting for your heart to turn to rust I don't see why not / I don't see why not what makes you believe that I asked to be led to the flood?
